Tech still without freshman forward Wood

BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech basketball coach James Johnson doesn’t know when his team will get freshman forward Marshall Wood back, but Johnson doesn’t expect it to be this Saturday against Wake Forest.
Wood has missed the last six games after fracturing his left foot against Georgia Southern on Dec. 15.
“It’s definitely a long shot he’s going to be with us this week,” Johnson said Monday morning. “It’s still week-to-week. They looked at his x-rays. Everything looked good. The healing process is going good but he’s not ready to play.”
Wood had said last week he hoped to return by the Wake Forest game. Johnson said he still hasn’t been given an estimate of how much time Wood will miss.
“It’s still indefinite,” Johnson said. “Everything looks like it’s healing like it’s supposed to but they still haven’t given me a timetable.”
Wood was averaging 5.8 points and 4.5 rebounds per outing in the 10 games he played.
