Tech releases ACC basketball opponents

BLACKSBURG - Virginia Tech released its Atlantic Coast Conference opponents for the 2013-14 season on Tuesday on Twitter.
The Hokies will play home-and-home series with Virginia, Boston College, Maryland and Miami. Clemson, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Syracuse and Wake Forest will also play games in Blacksburg at Cassell Coliseum.
Tech will also travel to Duke, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Notre Dame and Pittsburgh.

Syracuse has been to Blacksburg just one time, losing 87-71 to Virginia Tech in 1978.

“That’s another very good team coming in to the league and coming into Cassell,” Tech coach James Johnson said Tuesday from the road, where he’s recruiting. “I’m sure our fans are excited about the opportunity.”

The Hokies will play at Notre Dame for the first time since 2002 and just the second time overall.

“I haven’t looked at the entire schedule but I’m sure it’s going to be tough, night in and night out,” Johnson said. “We’ve had Duke and Carolina in here. We’re definitely excited about the toughness of the league.”
