Sources: Emelogu has left Tech basketball team

BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech sophomore guard Ben Emelogu, the team captain last season, has left the Hokies basketball program, multiple sources said.
Emelogu, a Grand Prarie, Texas native, hasn’t been with the team this summer. He has returned to Texas. It’s unclear if he will continue to play college basketball.
As a freshman, the 6-foot-5, 205-pound Emelogu played in 22 games, starting 12. He was third on the team averaging 10.5 points per game, along with 3.1 rebounds and 1.9 assists an outing.
Emelogu is the fourth player to leave the program since the end of last season, when former coach James Johnson was fired and Buzz Williams was hired.
Junior forward Marshall Wood and freshmen centers Maurice Kirby and Trevor Thompson also left the team.
